A: Yes. Every Moon Magic product is vegan — our ingredient lists contain no dairy, honey, or other animal-derived ingredients. Some flavours use aquafaba (chickpea liquid) in place of egg white for texture.

A: No. Moon Magic products are not sugar-free, but they are low in sugar. We minimize the use of sugar wherever possible and to the greatest extent practical. Different confections use different sweetener blends — depending on the product, ingredients may include allulose, isomalto-oligosaccharides, erythritol, stevia, soluble corn fiber, soluble tapioca fiber, inulin, and other plant fibers. Some recipes may also use a small amount of organic cane sugar when it's needed for a specific functional or product-quality reason.

Q: What sweeteners does Moon Magic use?
A: All six flavours use the Moon Magic Sweetener Blend: allulose, isomalto-oligosaccharides, erythritol, stevia and plant fibers. Three flavours — Cosmic Caramel Clusters, Nebular Nuggets and Martian Meteors — also include a soluble fiber (sourced as either soluble corn fiber or soluble tapioca fiber, depending on supply) and inulin fiber. Gold Diggers and PB Crispy Comets additionally use a small amount of cane sugar and isomalt for texture.
Q: Why does Moon Magic use more than one sweetener?
A: Different sweeteners contribute sweetness, texture, structure and mouthfeel. We combine them to help recreate the familiar taste and texture of conventional candy while minimizing added sugar.
Q: What is allulose?
A: Allulose is a rare sugar found naturally in small amounts in foods such as raisins, figs and maple syrup. It tastes like regular sugar, but only about 10% of it is metabolized by the body, so it has almost no impact on calories or blood sugar. We use it as the base of our Sweetener Blend.
Q: Does Moon Magic contain erythritol?
A: Yes, in all six flavours. The amount ranges from 1g per bag (Gold Diggers) to 8g per bag (Martian Meteors).
Q: Does Moon Magic contain maltitol?
A: No. Maltitol is not listed in any current Moon Magic ingredient list.
Q: Does Moon Magic contain isomalt?
A: Some Moon Magic products — Gold Diggers and PB Crispy Comets — contain a small, intentionally minimized amount of isomalt. Products that are too high in isomalt can cause digestive discomfort for some people, so each formula uses only a small percentage, and we conducted extensive testing with digestive comfort in mind. Q: Why does Moon Magic contain palm oil?
A: Some Moon Magic products contain relatively low levels of sustainably sourced palm oil. A small amount is used in some chocolate because it behaves similarly to cacao butter in certain ways and helps reduce exposure to instability in the cacao market. Sustainably sourced palm oil is also used in some fillings to support shelf life, minimize separation, and help maintain a consistent texture throughout the product's shelf life.

A: “Vegetable source” is a labeling note that appears next to allulose and isomalto-oligosaccharides on our ingredient lists. It confirms those specific sweetener ingredients are derived from plants rather than animal-derived material, supporting our vegan formulation.
Q: Where does Moon Magic source its cacao?
A: Both Moon Magic's cacao liquor and cacao butter come from farms in South America. The cacao butter is organic and comes from a family-owned farm in South America; the family is represented in Canada.
